I moved to the area from Lincoln in 2005 and had never been to St James until I took my daughter, then five to a service on Christmas eve. The church was beautiful and I felt genuinely moved and ‘connected’ and a part of something. I found the vicar Phil warm and down to earth.
When my partner and I decided to marry even though it was outside our parish we wanted it to be at St James because of that feeling of connectedness and acceptance we both felt was very much a part of the ethos of the church. Our day was beautiful and unforgettable, we couldn’t have asked for better. Our family and friends were welcomed by the church and the ladies that organised our flowers did an outstanding job. We will never forget the service. we chose the vows we wanted and the hymns that were most special to us. In my experience St James is a welcoming, friendly church, one that I have very much made to feel part of.
